National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) is the national service organization dedicated to representing the national interests of cooperative electric utilities and the consumers they serve. The NRECA Board of Directors oversees the association's activities and consists of 47 members, one from each state in which there is an electric distribution cooperative. The chief spokesman for the nation's electric cooperatives is NRECA Chief Executive Officer Glenn English.

Founded in 1942, NRECA was organized specifically to overcome World War II shortages of electric construction materials, to obtain insurance coverage for newly constructed rural electric cooperatives, and to mitigate wholesale power problems. Since those early days, NRECA has been an advocate for consumer-owned cooperatives on energy and operational issues as well as rural community and economic development.

NRECA's more than 900 member cooperatives serve 37 million people in 47 states. Most of the 865 distribution systems are consumer-owned cooperatives; some are public power districts.

Texas Electric Cooperatives (TEC) is a statewide organization dedicated to representing the interests of cooperative electric utilities in Texas and the member-consumers they serve. Establised in 1941 and based in Austin, TEC today represents 65 electric distribution cooperatives and the state's 9 generation and transmission cooperatives. TEC's president and chief executive officer is Mike Williams.

Touchstone Energy is an alliance of more than 600 cooperatives in 44 states that collectively deliver power and energy solutions to more than 22 million customers every day; provides high standards of service to all customers-residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural; is a branding initiative that communicates electric cooperatives' unique characteristics in a changing marketplace where these values and differences matter more each day; emphasizes the significance of each electric cooperative's local presence and unique ties to its community, but offers the resources of a nationwide network to bring added value and benefit to customers.
