Capital Credit

Capital credits reflect your share of the Cooperative's margins left over after all operating expenses are paid. These capital credits are credited to an account in your name and are based on the amount of business you did with the Cooperative for the past year.

Refunds on a percentage basis give prior members, as well as current members, a share of the refund.

It is very important that addresses be kept updated at the Cooperative since capital credit checks that are returned or not cashed are escheated to the State of Texas after 3 years.

Money retained above refunded capital credits is put back into the Cooperative for new construction, system improvements, and equipment. By doing this, RCEC keeps its borrowing at a minimum and holds the cost of electricity as low as possible. This results in a second dividend of more efficient, reliable service to the members.
